Lynn Magnusson, ASA, AAA, ISA AM has provided IRS qualified, USPAP compliant appraisals and fiduciary brokerage services to clients for over 25 years. She is one of the few appraisers in the country to hold Accreditations with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), the Appraisers Association of America (AAA), and the International Society of Appraiser (ISA). Her specialty designation is in Antiques, Furnishings & Decorative Art. Lynn’s valuations are highly respected and sought out by private and corporate clients, government entities, cultural institutions, attorneys, wealth managers, executors, realtors and professional organizers. Lynn and her team have extensive knowledge in asset management, sales, insurance scheduling, damage and loss, estate and charitable donation tax and equitable distribution of antiques, fine and decorative art and furnishings, collections, silver and jewelry. Alongside her primary role as CEO at The Magnusson Group, Lynn served as a long-time Board of Trustees member of the American Society of Appraiser’s Northern NJ Chapter. She now serves on the ASA National Personal Property Committee as Lead for the 2021 National Convention and on the Membership Committee helping to guide candidate appraisers through the accreditation process, reports and the creation of business plans. She also frequently lectures on connoisseurship and valuation topics. A world-class swimmer, Lynn trained for the Olympic Trials which earned her a full athletic scholarship to the University of Miami. She is the first woman to be awarded an athletic scholarship by the university which was made possible by the enactment of Title IX. Lynn continues to work-out and swim regularly while listening to blues, jazz, world and funk music.
Drew Magnusson has provided IRS qualified, USPAP compliant appraisals and fiduciary brokerage services to clients for over 20 years. Drew is a full-time research analyst of fine and decorative arts. He hones his connoisseurship skills by studying objects, mediums, artists, makers, history and sales results achieved at different marketplaces. Drew continues his connoisseurship and appraisal science education by participating in events sponsored by fine and decorative art museums and the American Society of Appraisers. From working with top auction specialists, he is an expert at consigning to private dealers on behalf of his clients. As a lover of the outdoors, Drew enjoys bird watching, fishing, kayaking and hiking all over the east coast.
Lauren Magnusson is the Estate Sale & Auction Sales Director & Project Manager, Photographer and Cataloger. She manages and oversees all Magnusson on-site sales and auctions and is a generalist home contents appraiser with USPAP compliancy. Lauren was in kindergarten when The Magnusson Group aka “Personal Property Consultants” was incorporated by her parents Lynn and Drew. Having grown up immersed in the world of art, antiques and fine objects, she spent countless hours with Lynn in New York’s finest museums and with Drew while he auctioned at the podium. Earning a double major in History and Political Science at Rutgers University helped Lauren develop historical perspectives, as well as her negotiating and sales skills. After graduating Lauren studied art and architecture in Berlin, Germany before completing the New York University Appraisal Studies Program. In her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling and listening to live music.
Leslie Picinich has been the Magnusson’s client manager since 2001. She helps our clients define their project’s goals, and guides them through the planning, appraisal, consignment, and estate sale processes. Leslie holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her three Bichons; Sammy, Polly and Sasha, have become unofficial team members and gallery guards. Leslie enjoys gardening both at home and at the gallery.
Kevin Magnusson stages, sets, and organizes our Estate Sales. Kevin also assists our appraisers in curating the Magnusson Group’s digital sales platforms and liquidating items through auction, brokerage, or private sale. He is currently working on a degree in Business Administration at Brookdale Community College. He is an Army Veteran, and lives in Jackson, New Jersey with his wife and two sons.
Lori Fedkenheuer is our client and realtor liaison, and an invaluable member of the Estate Sales Team. The energy and humor she brings to each estate sale makes our customers feel like a part of the family. Before joining The Magnusson Group in 2014, Lori worked in the print media industry for various corporations. She is a North Central Jersey Association of Realtors (NCJAR) Affiliate Member and regularly participates in food, clothing and coat drives. Lori has a BA in Journalism Studies from Montclair State University. When not working with the team, Lori enjoys hiking, bike riding, camping and treasure-hunting with her husband Glenn.
Jack Daly helps our appraisers compile market, descriptive, and provenance data packages. He is also responsible for many of the Magnusson Group’s digital initiatives and marketing campaigns. When not in the office, Jack runs a successful e-commerce business selling luxury timepieces, particularly of Swiss origin. Jack holds a double B.S. in Business Marketing and Computer Science from the University of Alabama.
Nathan Buchek recently joined The Magnusson Group as a Project Manager. He assists in the preparation of estate sales, on-line auctions and appraisals. Before working in the art world, Nathan was an attorney where he litigated trademark, copyright and patent issues in Federal Courts across the country. After a decade of legal practice, Nathan switched gears to study at Sotheby’s Institute of Art where he graduated as the class valedictorian in its Art Business program. He became a Fine Art specialist for a regional auction house before joining Sotheby’s in New York City where he worked in Business Development and Operations. Nathan has a JD from Fordham University School of Law where he was a Notes and Articles Editor for its Intellectual Property Law journal. Nathan also has a BFA in Painting and a BA in Asian Studies from Cornell University. When not spending time with his family in Glen Rock, Nathan can usually be found behind his drum kit.
Heather Zises brings 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing to The Magnusson Group. She is an accomplished editor and writer with focuses on digital content development and social media strategy. Heather began her career at Pace Gallery and Phillips, where she coordinated numerous exhibitions and site-specific installations at galleries, art fairs and alternative spaces worldwide. Her multi award-winning book, 50 Contemporary Women Artists (Schiffer 2018), is available at leading art institutions and university libraries. Heather is also a Founding Member of Ninth Street Collective, where she consults artists on their professional development. Raised in Boston, Heather has a BA in English from Cornell University and an MA in Art History and Connoisseurship from Christie’s Education.
Kendall Dunn joined The Magnusson Group as our new Client Manager in September 2020. She helps clients define their project goals and guides them through the planning, appraisal, consignment and estate sale processes. Kendall previously worked at the Tina Kim Gallery in Manhattan, The Edward Hopper House in Nyack, NY and museums in Pittsburgh, PA. Born and raised in Bernardsville, NJ, Kendall attended Bernardsville public schools and Gill St. Bernard’s School in Gladstone, NJ. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Art History and Museum Studies .
Donna Goldstein is a stager who brings her multifaceted knowledge of art history, antiques and event planning to each estate sale. Donna began her career staging antiques in New York’s esteemed DeLorenzo Gallery on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where she helped create their research archive. Donna has a BA in Art History from The City University of New York and is a long-time resident of Morristown, where she raised her three children. Donna spends her free time hiking, touring historical buildings and homes and taking part in charitable work.
Bianca Durkin is a home stylist with a passion to create meaningful living spaces. She is a Certified Interior Redesigner and Home Stager MRSI (Midwest Redesign Staging Institute) and a founder of B Redesigned Interiors, where she expertly restyles, reorganizes and declutters homes for their next stage of beautiful living. Bianca began her career in hotel marketing and sales, which afforded her the opportunity to travel internationally and absorb different design styles. Bianca has a BA in Marketing Communications and Public Relations from Columbia College in Chicago and lives in Harding with her family.
Heather Lusardi joined the Magnusson Group in March 2019. She is an expert home organizer and stager who brings a personal touch to all Magnusson Estate Sales. Heather began her career in merchandizing and sales for home furnishings and the garment industry, where she developed a great eye for style. Heather has a BA in Retail and Marketing from Syracuse University and lives in Basking Ridge with her husband and four children where she is very active in the community.
Grace Ann Murphy brings three decades of design and organizational expertise to The Magnusson Group. After a career in graphic design, she transitioned to interior design and staging, specializing in accessories to enhance large spaces, from floral arrangements for hotels to giant floorcloths for beach homes. A founding board member of Hope Autism Foundation, she regularly plans fundraising galas and holiday house tours. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and has lived in Basking Ridge for 25 years.
Carole Washington joins the Magnusson Group after more than 20 years as an executive with fashion retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales. Her presence, immense knowledge and impeccable sense of flair help designer furniture, clothing, and accessories fly out the door at our estate sales. When not assisting the team with a sale, Carole runs a business which operates professional fashion shows for the benefit of charities, foundations, or nonprofit organizations.
Jeffrey Schroeder, AM graduated McPherson College’s Automotive Restoration Technology Program where he received hands-on training from industry professionals. Following graduation, he became a full- time restoration professional at one of the premier classic car restoration facilities that specializes in antique and full classic custom-bodied automobiles. Over the past ten years, he has been buying, selling, locating and consigning antique cars, parts and memorabilia for collectors and restorers all over North America. He has participated in events such as the Pebble Beach Concours D Elegance, AACA Fall Meet, and The Great American Race. Jeff is an Accredited Member of the American Society of Appraisers.
Donna Thompson Ray, is a Candidate and active NJ Chapter member of the American Society of Appraisers. Her areas of expertise are African, Caribbean and African-American Art and Photography. She is currently a Ph.D candidate at Drew University in Madison, NJ. Ms. Thompson Ray is a former fine art photographer and gallery manager (London, UK). She has published articles on collecting and appraising fine art, and African-American art & photography. She has been an associate appraiser for the Magnusson Group for over five years.
Jane St. Lifer, ASA has decades of experience in the international art world. She has previously served as the Director of several galleries in New York, New Jersey, and Arizona. Ms. St. Lifer received a BFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY and an MA from New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NJ. She is associated and holds memberships with the American Society of Appraiser, International Foundation of Art Research, Auctioneers Association Inc, National Arts Club and Friends of British Sporting Art. In 2008 St. Lifer was Project Coordinator of Will Barnet Catalogue Raisonne. Jane lives in NYC and her enthusiasm for the arts is contagious.
David Wolf, ASA, GG, MGA is a third generation gemologist and a published expert on Reproduction versus Antique Diamonds, Gemstones and Jewelry. Certified by the American Society of Appraisers as an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), he earned their prestigious Master Gemologist Appraiser designation in 1995. Mr. Wolf has been a Graduate Gemologist (GG) of the Gemological Institute of America since 1985.
David Sperling is a horologist with years of experience in the trade. As co-owner of Father & Son Antiques, David has also been a Member of National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) since 1967. You can find his many horological writings in The Maine Antiques Digest and The Bulletin of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Previously, David acted as a clock and watch appraiser for Lofty. He has also curated an Exhibit of Handmade New England Timepieces at The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts in 2001.
Jay Chatellier has helped clients with their fine arts needs for almost 30 years. He specializes in 19th and 20th century American and European artworks, with an emphasis on quality and value. Jay now leads the Florida branch of The Magnusson Group.
