Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler! The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is just around the corner; I wish I could be there to experience all its colorful sounds, eye-candy and food. I have attended that party 25 glorious times! Many know that the Magnussons love music, which is how we got to N’Orleans in the first place. Oh, the stories I could tell, but you’d first have to buy me a soft-shell crab po’boy, a ticket to Tipitina’s and a Bloody Mary with pickled okra in a to-go cup…

During my first year of the festival, I wandered around the French Quarter and happened upon the best “antique” store. Period. Hands down then. Hands down still. M.S. Rau on Royal Street has been a purveyor of fine art, antiques and jewelry for over 110 years and is now into its 4th generation of ownership. Their showroom displays some of the world's most fascinating, important and beautiful treasures. Having the freedom to get up close and sometimes, even, touch (oh my!) these unique items, makes this in-person experience better than a museum.
