Description: Created by noted sculptor and designer Lea Henny Halpern (Dutch/American, 1899-1985), this signed though undated vase is believed to been executed during her early American period, c. 1940.
Though she had been an esteemed sculptor in her home country for almost a decade, Halpern fled Europe right before World War II, immigrating to the United States in 1939. Her works created during her early years in America are held in the highest regard. This beautiful wall sculpture features thirteen hand-glazed ceramic tiles mounted to a cork-filled wood base.
