Las Vegas ASA International Appraisal Conference, October 2021
Never having been to Las Vegas, I hadn’t heard much about the art scene there. In fact, there’s an abundance of extraordinary contemporary artworks there. Nearly all of these are free to see: Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, KAWS, and there’s even a private dining room at Scotch 80 Prime (one of the Fertittas Brothers’ famed restaurants) called the "Basquiat Room" which houses five of the late artists's eclectic pieces. Two of the most interesting art stops I intend to make are Meow Wolf, an interactive surrealist supermarket with 100s of art collaborators and the Neon Museum (not free).
The keynote speaker I’ll be introducing is Las Vegas Art Advisor Michele Quinn. She created the $40 million Fine Art Collection for the Las Vegas CityCenter Campus and worked with Steve Wynn, Mandalay Bay, and MGM developing their art collections. She also advised Ugo Rondinone’s Seven Magic Mountains, a large-scale site-specific public art installation located south of Las Vegas, Nevada.
